As the calendar rolls into December just five weeks remain in the NFL’s regular season. Plenty of playoff spots and seeds still need to be sorted out, but there is also plenty of money to be made on games between teams that have fallen out of the hunt. Here’s a look at two of those games in two of our top picks for Week 13.
Jacksonville +5.5 at Buffalo at 5Dimes
At 2-9 SU, it is easy to overlook the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, the Jags are actually a respectable 6-5 ATS overall, and an extremely impressive 5-0 ATS with two outright upsets on the road. Jacksonville seems to be one of those rare teams that play looser and better away from home.
Since Blaine Gabbert was placed on the IR with an injury, quarterback Chad Henne has Jacksonville’s offense rolling. Henne has thrown six touchdowns to just one interception over the last two weeks, leading the team to a 1-1 SU and 2-0 ATS record while averaging 30.5 points per game.
Against Buffalo’s lackluster defense (allowing 29 points per game), Henne should be able to keep Jacksonville’s suddenly hot offense rolling. Buffalo will also score its share of points going up against Jacksonville’s weak defense, but this one looks like a shootout that will come down to the wire, making the points worth a play on the Jags.
New York Jets -4.5 at Arizona at Pinnacle
New York has had its share of ugly games in this 4-7 SU season, and none was uglier than last week’s 49-19 embarrassment at home against New England on Thanksgiving Day. After being ridiculed all week long, the Jets should be fired up to bounce back with a big performance this week; and they get the perfect team coming to town to do so against.
Arizona is 0-7 SU and 1-5-1 ATS over its last seven games. The Cardinals’ pitiful offense is down to its third-string quarterback, Ryan Lindley, who threw two pick-sixes last week at home against St. Louis. How should he be expected to fare on the road this week against an infuriated Jets team?
Despite New York’s miserable season, the Jets are 6-5 ATS and have proven they can dispatch non-elite teams in blowout wins over Buffalo (48-28), Indianapolis (35-9), and St. Louis (27-13). This should be another one of those rare bright spots for the Jets this season.
Other lines available this week (all at Bet365) include New Orleans +3 at Atlanta, Seattle +4 at Chicago, Minnesota +9 at Green Bay, San Francisco -7 at St. Louis, Carolina -3 at Kansas City, Indianapolis +4.5 at Detroit, New England -7 at Miami, Houston -5.5 at Tennessee, Tampa Bay +7 at Denver, Cincinnati -1.5 at San Diego, Philadelphia +10 at Dallas, and the NY Giants -2.5 at Washington.
